Who should enroll?
Tactical strength and conditioning facilitators work with military, fire and rescue, law enforcement, protective services, and other emergency personnel to improve performance, promote wellness, and decrease the risk of injury. Tactical training maintains and improves physical abilities, such as:
Muscular endurance and strength
Power, speed, and agility
Anaerobic and aerobic capacity
Flexibility and mobility
Balance and stability
Body composition
What will you learn to do?
Upon completion of this course learners will be able to facilitate strength and conditioning programs to:
Improve cardiopulmonary fitness and self-regulation of the stress response.
Establish a movement competency foundation for physical readiness that includes active range of motion and dynamic postural control.
Develop strength and power to win the fight.
Mobilize energy to protect, defend, and attack when needed.
Design exercise programs for tactical athletes that meet occupational demands and optimize load carriage.
Provide nutrition education and guidance for optimal health and performance.
How is the Strength Training Education Program delivered?
Online Strength Training Course (8.0 CEU)
Weekly modules include:
Learning activities
Interactive lecture series of 10-15 minute videos with knowledge checks
Self-assessment quizzes with automatic grading and feedback
Discussions that facilitate asynchronous learning interactions (i.e., learner-content, learner-learner, and learner-instructor)
Tactical strength & conditioning assignments with instructor feedback
Live TSAC Podcast every Tuesday 6:00 - 8:00pm CT; recording posted within 24 hours
Final written exam that simulates NSCA TSCA-F certification exam
Strength Training Practicum (2.0 CEU)
Intensive 3-day practicum includes:
Hands-on exercise technique and programming
Physical readiness and fitness testing (e.g., ACFT)
Program design to increase physical readiness
Exercise technique and programming (e.g., calisthenics, resistance exercises, aerobic endurance training)
Practical exam that simulates NSCA TSCA-F certification exam
When are classes offered?
During 2024, the 8-week Online course and the Practicum course begin and end dates are aligned with Avila University's academic calendar.
